  4. I hope you had a lovely day, Frances :-)

Your artwork is rather reminiscent of the actual, real Valentine's that started the tradition, so it's particularly fitting!

I learned something new this Valentine's Day -- my husband is very good about doing things like getting me flowers for anniversaries, etc. I usually discourage him from getting roses for Valentine's day simply because they are something like triple the price as any other day of the year. Anyway, he sent me one and a half dozen roses, which was a lovely thing to do, but part of the reason I am not a big "Roses on Valentine's Day!" fan is those suckers die so quickly.

And I found out a new way to combat that -- two tablespoons of Listerine in the water daily. It actually works (the heads nod from bacteria that grows on the stems, the Listerine kills off that bacteria).

Just thought I'd share, in case anyone else has the roses that nod problem. I did have a friend approach the vase, ooohhhing and aaahhhing over them, only to stop short a foot away. "What's that smell?" "Oh, it's Wintergreen." and the look of confusion on her face was very clear, "They can do that now??" She thought some person had developed a rose that smelled of Wintergreen.

Rather fitting for V-Day if that was the case.
