Thank you Barry. The ladybugs having been finding their way into the house ever since the warm days started earlier this month. I've rescued a couple from the cat just in time.
Turns out the ladybug is a symbol for Our Lady, the red wings representing her cloak, and the black spots her joys and sorrows. Who knew?

I work in the glowing and versatile medium of watercolours. Pencil sketches, research, layout and still more sketches lead the way to detailed finished paintings, which are executed on 100% cotton hot-pressed paper. That is a nuts-and-bolts description of the process, but the heart of it is capturing the joy in the moment when the everyday meets the magical.

"Work, give, share; recognize the blessings you have and multiply them in your heart; do not strain after the impossible, but keep hope fresh in your soul, the hope that each day will be better than one just lived, which was already good because, like the Boy Scout, you tried to do at least one kind act in the twenty-four hours. Joy lies within your heart; does not depend upon what you are or have " Queen Marie

I did not know that about the ladybird or ladybugs as you call them.
ReplyDeleteYour lovely painting reminds me of Cicely Mary Barker of Flower Fairy fame, she illustrated some religious subjects for children.
